Hello…
I guess I should introduce myself, my name is Ellie and I am Splann’s caller, it’s my job to ensure that you enjoy your ceilidh. Easy, you say, who comes to a wedding or party not in the mood for fun, and yes of course in a way you’re right, BUT, I like to think there is a bit more to it than that!
Picture this you’re stood on a stage in front of anything up to 500 strangers, and you think to yourself:
Has the alcohol flowed freely tonight?
Is anyone going to get up and dance?
Do these lot have 2 left feet?
Any problems with lefts and rights?
What about a sense of humour?
Yes, these are just some of the thoughts that flash through my mind as I stand up there in front of you; thankfully within the first couple of dances I have my answers!
All I need to do then is transform myself into your perfect caller!
That is exactly why I love being a caller, every single ceilidh we do is different and always poses some kind of challenge! So whether you are sober and reserved; drunk and crazy; move like Jagger or are not really blessed with the gift of rhythm; bring it on, because I love a challenge!!
